BASIX Quick Facts

Last modified: August 4, 2005 - 10:08 AM

As of July 1, 2005, every development application for a new home must be submitted to Council with a BASIX certificate.

BASIX is a NSW Government State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP) that requires every new house, townhouse, villa or unit block built in NSW to be designed to use less energy and water.

BASIX operates entirely online at www.basix.nsw.gov.au.

To get a BASIX Certificate, the building designer enters the house design data into the BASIX assessment tool, which then calculates whether the design meets the reduction targets. Once the design complies, a Certificate can be printed.

For more information on BASIX, download the brochures below, visit the BASIX website or call the BASIX help line on 1300 650 908 during business hours
