Tree Preservation Order Form

Application for tree surgery or removal under Yass Valley Council's Tree Preservation Order.

Trees are important elements of the landscape that we live in, adding to the character of our streetscapes, and providing habitat for many animals.

It is important to control their removal to ensure the quality of life and the environment within the Yass Valley Council locality is managed and enhanced for both current and future generations.

Yass Valley Council adopted a new Tree Preservation Order in August 2005 to prevent the indiscriminate removal of trees in the Council area.

If you are intending to do anything to a tree that may damage its health or appearance, such as:

• Tree removal

• Ringbarking

• Topping

• Lopping

• Pruning

• Poisoning

you must obatin Council approval BEFORE the activity is carried out.
