2009 Seniors Week in Yass ValleyLast modified: March 16, 2009 - 4:16 PM
Our seniors are a treasured asset. They have made and continue to make a significant contribution to our community with a lifetime of skills, knowledge and experience to share.
To recognise and celebrate the many contributions that seniors have made to the Yass Valley community the Yass Senior Citizens Club in conjunction with the Country Women’s Association and Yass Valley Home Living Support Service will be hosting a morning tea at 10.30am on Thursday 19 March 2009 at the Yass Senior Citizens Club Rooms which are located in Rossi Street Yass. NSW Seniors Week runs from 15 to 22 March. With more than 500 events planned under the LIVE LIFE banner, it is one of the biggest celebration for seniors in the southern hemisphere.“For over 50 years, NSW Seniors Week has provided opportunities for older people to meet, learn something new and celebrate life,” said Mayor of Yass Nic Carmody. “I encourage all seniors to join the celebrations by turning up and taking advantage of the free morning tea. The morning tea is also a great opportunity to find out about the wide range of activities and programs that are run by the Yass Senior Citizens Club, Country Women’s Association and Yass Valley Home Living Support Service” NSW Seniors Week is funded by the NSW Government and organised by the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) to thank and recognise older people across the State for the contributions they provide to the community. Further information about the morning tea may be obtained by telephoning from Council’s Coordinator Yass Valley Home Living Support Service, Lynette Moore on 6226 4555. Contact details |
