Magic Spirit Johnny Huckle to Entertain Film Crowd - Friday Night at Riverbank Park

Last modified: November 12, 2008 - 9:17 AM

The Yass Valley Film Festival 2008 kicks off in Yass this coming Friday from 6pm. Feast at the Rotary BBQ, enjoy Fun Foods and gourmet coffee, or perhaps even a glass of wine, as you settle back to the music of Mr Johnny Huckle, right before those award winning short films.

Johnny will entertain the crowd with his extraordinary range of musical talents, presenting an energetic performance of original songs all traversing themes of love, connection and spirit. His live show is spiced with humour and offers everything from opera to bush ballad.

The fun is due to start at about 6pm, however history tells us that the more savvy short film enthusiasts will start staking their claim in front of the big screen, anytime from 5pm onwards.

As dusk descends the first of the In The Bin Yass Valley Students films will be screened, followed by the travelling program, this year featuring 16 award winning films. The lineup of famous Australian actors includes Gary McDonald, Kerry Armstrong, Shaun Micallef and Diane Craig and gives you some idea of just how popular the In The Bin Short Film Festival has become.

And as if that wasn’t enough, – Country Energy are again offering their very popular “Save $500 from your electricity for a year!” competition. To win, clip out the coupon in the Tribune, download it from the Yass Valley Council website and drop it into an entry box on the night.

So if you want to save the family a whole lot of energy this year grab a copy of the coupon and join the throng at Riverbank Park on Friday night for a true taste of short film brilliance in the Yass Valley.

If it rains – organisers have booked the Memorial Hall – so head up there for the same film, food and music entertainment!
