Yass Valley Local Emergency Management Committee Grant Success

The Yass Valley Local Emergency Management Committee has been successful in obtaining $32,000 to assist in the purchase and installation of equipment to enable an effective and efficient response by Committee in the event of an emergency.
The Yass Valley Local Emergency Management Committee is a Committee of Yass Valley Council, established by the State Emergency and Rescue Management Act 1989. The Committee is responsible for the preparation of plans in relation to the prevention of, preparation for, response to and recovery from emergencies in Yass Valley. The Committee is comprised of members of the Police Service, Fire Brigades, Rural Fire Service, Ambulance Service, State Emergency Service, Binalong Volunteer Rescue Association, Department of Primary Industries, Yass Red Cross and Local Government Staff.
Attorney General Philip Ruddock has announced details of 365 projects, valued at $13.1 million to be funded in 2006/07 through the Local Grants Scheme (LGS).
