Can I cut down a tree on my property in town?

Council has adopted a Tree Preservation Order that covers all areas of the Yass Valley LGA zoned Residential Village, Rural-Residential and Rural, in an effort to protect and enhance visual amenity, encourage better land management and secure wildlife habitat.

The Order is divided into various categories that define requirements for the removal of trees. The Order also makes provision for the replacement of trees with ratios set for each category. Read more on this topic.
