National Drug Action Week kicks off from 21-27 June and Yass Library is shining the spotlight on important drug and alcohol issues with a competition, onsite promotions and a Mocktail Party. Drug Action Week is an initiative of the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia (ADCA) providing individuals, organisations, and communities with the opportunity to initiate and coordinate activities that promote awareness of alcohol and other drugs.
The focus in 2009 for Drug Action Week is the theme message – ‘Alcohol is a drug– TOO!’
The aim is to increase awareness about the harm caused by the misuse of alcohol and other drugs – with a focus on alcohol-related matters.
Alcohol is the most commonly used drug in Australia and its misuse continues to cause significant harm and enormous cost to the community.
At Yass Library we are having a ‘Mocktail Party’ on Thursday 25th June from 5pm to 6pm. Mocktails are non-alcoholic drinks and everyone aged 13 and over are invited to the Library to try some.
