Please fill in our survey and return it to The Yass Valley Visitor Information Centre by the 28th January.
We are seeking your input!
In 2001 the Yass Valley Development Corporation conducted a survey of Tourism orientated operators in the Yass Shire to canvass the current thinking in our home region. Feedback received from that survey influenced strategic development and policy implementation for the Development Corporation in the following years. In late 2008, the corporation decided to update that information, and we would be most grateful for your feedback. Enclosed you will find our latest survey. For this round of information gathering we are casting the net wider to include most businesses within the Local Government Area, all Tourism Operators and most of the community groups. In the latest report from Tourism Australia conducted by TNS Travel and Leisure - TNS Tourism Australia Domesticate Study 2008 Secrets of the Australian domestic travel market in October 2008, research support the findings that there has been a steady decline in domestic tourism numbers over the past 10 years. Whilst expenditure on tourism domestically has increased, this is at a time of increasing inflation and base input costs. At the same time, tourism’s total share of the wallet has fallen compared to other categories. This change has negatively affected tourism businesses as well as state and regional economies across the country. We know the rational reasons, but to effect real change in behaviour the underlying issues and problems still need to be addressed The Development Corporation is committed to positioning Yass Valley as a strong Tourism and Business destination, and for this we need your assistance. Please fill in the form – mail it back to us – and when we have compiled the results we shall publish them in the media for your information. In order to meet our timeframe, we need the surveys returned by mail or fax to the Yass Valley Visitor Information Centre no later than Wednesday 28 January 2009. Thanks for your assistance, and we look forward to hearing your opinion. Yours sincerely, Councillor Allan McGrathChairYass Valley Development Corporation14 January 2009
