May is Health @ your library month and what better place to learn more about taking care of your health than your local library?
Whether you are looking for information on physical, spiritual or mental health or you are keen to improve fitness, nutrition or wellness, the library has access to resources that are up to date, quality assured and accurate.
To get into the spirit of the ‘healthy’ theme and to encourage a healthier lifestyle amongst staff and members, library staff in all STRL branches will be participating in the 10,000 Steps Program (www.10000steps.org.au). Library staff will take up the challenge to complete a ‘Virtual Library Loop’, or the equivalent of walking from Goulburn Library to Murrumbateman Library, Yass Library, Gunning Library, Crookwell Library and back to Goulburn. That means they’ll be hoping to complete a distance of 248 km walked by library staff from all branches between 1st and 31st May.
You can participate by entering a competition to guess how far the staff team at the Yass branch walk during May. The prize for the closest guess? A pedometer, so the winner can start their own healthy exercise program! Those interested can follow the progress of library staff during May on the STRL website (www.strl.nsw.gov.au) or at their local branch library.
Don’t forget to come into the library to discover the many and varied health information products available. Healthy Storytime Preschool aged children and their parents/carers are invited to come to the Library to kickstart our Health @ Your Library month. We will be having a special ‘healthy’ storytime on Thursday 1st May at 11am – all welcome!
