Yass & District Museum

The Yass & District Museum is located in Comur Street adjacent to the Visitor Information Centre.  The Museum has display on Parallels in History with a display of the Main Street in the 1890's and at present, including 3 dimensional models of the buildings in the Main Street in 1895.  There are also displays on Hamilton Hume as the only Australian explorer and his life afterwards in Yass; the Yass Store, with an operational old fashion cash register; the Churches in Yass, including further 3 dimensional models; the Inns of Yass, showing how they developed with the town and that several of these still exist and some are still in use; Burrinjuck Dam, showing its construction and the development of the Burrinjuck railway; 19th century room displays, including a kitchen and parlour.

The Museum is open Saturday & Sunday from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm and many Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.  There is a small entry fee of $2.00 per adult and $0.50 per child
